Polishing in Church Mayfield

We were contacted by a Mrs Alcock of Church Mayfield who enquired about a antique flame walnut table which had a deep scratch across the centre of the table, after treating and restoring the table we went on to fully French polish it and also strip two more tables and give them an oil finish whilst doing touch outs on a piano which had a few knocks over the years. Maintenance is key to the life and upkeep of furniture which in this lady’s opinion “brought back to life and made the house warmer.

Antique Chair Restoration and French Polishing

Over the past year at Jewett Carpentry we’ve created relationships with different tradesmen throughout Derbyshire and Staffordshire, one of which is Clark Interiors in brailsford. We’ve been working very closely with Ian Clark of Clark Interiors restoring and reupholstering chairs from Victorian balloon back chairs to captain’s chairs, even strengthening old sofa arm chair’s for reupholstery. The job that kick started the relationship between businesses being Victorian chairs from Tideswell which had been in a gentleman’s family for many years. The chairs were stripped, restored using original materials, animal glue etc.. then upholstered with leather cow hide and fully French polished. We made sure that these beautiful Victorian Chairs were back with the family to use over Christmas.
