Victorian Shutter Extension
When the building was extended during the Victorian era, shutters were added to the windows for security purposes. Previous owners installed radiators below the windows where the shutters opened, so they chopped the bottom of the shutters off to make space but left a gap where daylight was able to come through. Working to the budget, we sourced aged pine and jointed it to extend the shutters to be amended at a later date. Veneer disguised these amendments and then we continued with the front face of the shutters using different earth pigments and shellac to take the eye off any repairs.
