    • Project: Victorian Porch

The owner of the property contacted Jewett Carpentry to look at rebuilding their porch. They had been quoted thousands of pounds to replace the porch due to "timber that was too rotten to treat". The mortise and tenon joints needed to be rebuilt and some sills renewed. First we located the rot then stabilised it to strengthen and stop any spread. The client had asked if we could replace the tongue and groove floor boards to something more delicate and decretive. The finished results were outstanding!
    • Project: Georgian Window Restoration

We discovered that the front of the building had been extended during the Victorian era and the windows had been neglected ever since. These 8ft x 4ft sash windows had severe water damage, loose joints and broken weights which all contributed to a large draft. A previous owner had attempted to strip the paint and treat them with button polish, however this provides no protection from the elements and resulted in the rot being sealed into the wood. Our priority was to strip the windows by carefully removing them from the frame, then strengthen & repair.
